I’ve always wanted to delve into the WordPress Theme Development pool but I’ve never really had the motivation to do so until recently. For the last few weeks I’ve been working away on a new ‘basic magazine style’ greyscale theme for WordPress self-hosted users. Take a look at the screenshot of the homepage below:

This is just a quick snapshot of what I’ve been working on – the aim of the theme is to not look too ‘crowded’, but bring what the author of each blog feels is essential content and place it center ground. Some of the features of the homepage so far are:
- Main featured image (top) – may evolve to be a slider one day.
- 2 Featured images and headline links.
- More to follow as development progresses…
Theme-wide features include:
- Support for WP3.0 menus.
- Search page which seperates page results and post results in a neat interface.
- Theme settings.
- Social networking links.
- Sidebar on posts and pages.
- Comments (with admin interface on the front-end).
